Nagashima Chihiro “Couples”  

Artist’s comment: Many of my works feature two people or other beings together. Whether they portray close friends, someone with a dear animal or heavenly creature, or two whose destiny will bring them together, I think of these as “couple” paintings. Seeing a couple who are very close to one another feels like a glimpse of a heavenly scene. Moments of peace and respite, moments when belief is justified, or simple moments of ordinariness all become priceless. Such moments are worthy of being depicted in fine detail and with clear focus. I paint them to make sure I remember them.

イムラアートギャラリーではこの度ART OSAKA 2022に際して、
「ふたりの」と題し、永島千裕の個展形式で作品をご紹介いたします。

作家より展示に寄せて:
親友に、大好きな獣や神様、あるいはまだ知らない縁続きの誰か。
今回はそんなふたりが描かれた、自分の中で「ふたりもの」と呼んでいる作品を中心に展示します。
親密なふたりがいる時、その風景は天国みたいだな、と思います。
ひとときの安堵や信じることを許された時間、なんでもないものがかけがえなくなる風景、
それらは隅々までピントを合わせて描く甲斐があって、覚えていられますように、と描いておきます。
